Teacher introduction

I live in the beautiful city of Bath, UK which is visited by 250,000 people every year. It has world famous attractions such as the Roman Baths and the Royal Crescent. Our house is located in the Odd Down area of Bath and is very close to a local bus route into the city – a journey of about 2 miles. I live in a 4 bedroom house close to a super market and a fish and chip shop. My wife and I have 4 children – most of whom have now grown up and left home. We have a lovely garden with a trampoline. I like doing gardening, playing the piano and have recently taken up cooking as an interest. I have been teaching science (Biology, Physics and Chemistry) to 11- 16 years old for 30 years.
Teacher home details
We live in a 4 bedroom house with a garden at the back. We have 2 rooms available for students. One is in the attic and has sloping ceilings. The other is on the first floor with a view out the front of the house, this is a smallish room but has all that is needed for an enjoyable stay. There is a shower room with a sink and toilet next door to the attic room which would be mostly for the use of visitors and occasional family use.
Teacher qualifications text
I have a university degree in Biochemistry. I also hold a PGCE certificate in Science education. Most of this teaching experience has been in a school. My last year’s experience has been private science tutoring.
Teacher about the local area
We are fairly central to the Odd Down area with a supermarket and a fish and chip shop within 50 metres of the house. The local bus stop taking people into town is about 100 metres down the road. There is a swimming pool and sports facilities locally and in the city. The city sports centre is larger and you can do bowling there as well. Many people come to Bath to visit the Roman Bath or the Royal Crescent. There is also a large cinema in Bath.
Teacher family
I live with my wife Jenny and we have been married for almost 28 years. We are now in our 50’s. Jenny has a life coaching business. It is possible you will meet some of our children during your stay. We have 4 children. Our adult son and adult daughter have both left home now but may visit. We have another daughter at university studying Psychology and the youngest daughter is studying A levels at school.

We love gardening. I tend to like growing fruit and vegetables whilst Jenny likes growing flowers. I have recently developed an interest in cooking and have tried recipes from different countries. We are both musical. Jenny plays the flute and I play the piano and guitar. We have an electric piano and guitar which you would be welcome to play. We have a trampoline in the garden and a netball net. We have a snooker table in our living room. I love running and will run around our local bicycle track several times a week. Jenny prefers to do fitness sessions at our local Gym
