I am a teacher of English as a foreign language and have taught students at all levels. Teaching business English is one of my specialities. I also teach English literature as well as language and have taught creative writing. I am very relaxed and easy going and enjoy meeting new people. As a teacher, I like to make learning as interesting and fun as possible.
Before becoming an English teacher, I worked for many years as a actor. After that I worked as a journalist, writing and editing articles and reviews for national publications. I am also the author of nine novels.

 Family information

I live with my wife, Carolyn. Carolyn is a actress and performs in productions around the country. She often accompanies me when I take students out on excursions and plays a full and active part in making guests feel welcome at our home.
I am an avid reader and I am particularly passionate about literature and history. I am a regular theatre and cinema goer. My main hobby is cookery and I aim to keep my students well fed! I also enjoy watching sports and I keep fit by walking regularly. The area where we live is particularly well served with parks and beautiful river walks

About the teacher’s accommodation

We have spent the last two years modernizing our house and it is large and spacious, with big but cosy bedrooms and a very extensive and comfortable living room, where guests are welcome to join us in the evening and relax in front of the TV. In summer you may prefer to sit out in our south-facing garden and enjoy the evening sun. The house also has a superbly equipped library with many thousands of books. Guests are always welcome to browse and borrow any titles that take their fancy.

About the local area

I live in the south west of London near Hampton Court, one of the most famous and historically important royal palaces in England. We walk regularly in the beautiful palace grounds, which are open to visitors all year round. Our home is a 5-minute walk from Hampton Court station, from where trains go to Waterloo (35 minutes) via Wimbledon and Clapham Junction (perfect for Gatwick Airport). We are also very conveniently situated for Heathrow Airport. The area round Hampton Court station is full of shops, restaurants, bars and pubs, all within easy walking distance of our house. The river Thames is only two minutes away and walking along the river bank is one of our favourite pastimes. In summer it is possible to take a boat down the river to Kingston and Richmond. Bus services to these and other place of interest (including Twickenham for rugby fans) operate all your round.
