Hello, if you would like to learn English with a young teacher who is friendly and fun then choose me! I live in the perfect location of a town with a nearby river and beautiful country side, whilst also being one hour away from London on the train. In my family home we have a huge garden with a pizza oven and places to read and relax in the sunshine. I have lived in many different countries including China, Spain and Colombia and have been teaching English as a foreign language for five years.

Family information

I live with my mother who is in her 50´s. She works as a nurse and loves to play the recorder and do the gardening. I have two sisters but they are currently living abroad and will not be in England over the summer. I also have a younger brother who is in his 20´s and may be at home for parts of the summer on his university break. He loves exercising and listening to music with his friends in the garden. We also will have a lodger over summer who is a Theatre Director and is very friendly and spends a lot of time at work (he stayed with us a year ago). I love to sing, dance, read and travel! Learning about other cultures is very interesting to me. Over the summer I love to go on days out to castles, museums, farms, local attractions or just simply take a picnic into the countryside for the afternoon. Sometimes we go fruit picking in the local fields (strawberries, raspberries). I would be very happy for the student to accompany me doing any of these hobbies. On rainy days I enjoy listening to the radio, watching films, and playing board games with friends.

About the teacher’s accommodation

My home is a semi-detached house with 5 bedrooms in total, a large kitchen-living room area, a dining room/study area and a very large garden where we have a working pizza oven and often have pizza parties with friends! Our house is decorated very uniquely with lots of bright colours and fairy lights which give it a welcoming and warm atmosphere. Student accommodation includes a private room with a single bed, chest of drawers, window and radiator. There is a lavatory next door to the  bedroom which may be used by other members of the household at times, but will mostly be used only by the student. Downstairs there is a shared family bathroom with a shower cubicle and bath tub.

About the local area

Maidstone is the County town of Kent and as such offers plenty of activities to choose from. There is a river, cinema, sports centre with swimming facilities, bowling alley, skate park, trampolining centre and many restaurants and night clubs for older students. Maidstone is very well connected and is situated one hour away from both London and the seaside. There are many historic sites to visit nearby such as Leeds Castle, Chatham Dockyards, and Museum of Kent Life as well as countless parks and places of natural beauty.
