I currently live alone, however sometimes my partner visits and stays for the night. I am very interested in reading, writing and watching science fiction and fantasy. I have an impressive collection of books and DVDs as well as fantasy and science-fiction collectable memorabilia. As a Linguist I often like to read and engage in research about language and I like to try to speak and learn other languages. I am also interested other cultures such as Indian, Chinese, Japanese. I have a side hobby of creating fictional languages for a series of fantasy novels I am in the process of writing. Apart from these hobbies I enjoy walking, exploring new places, visiting museums, swimming, going to the gym, boxing and doing zumba.

About the teacher’s accommodation

My home is an apartment in a large building of other apartments. I live on the first floor. The apartment itself is spacious with a very nicely-sized kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedrooms. The bathroom is shared and includes both a shower and a bath. The kitchen is equipped with many modern appliances: kettle, toaster, weighing scales, soup machine, coffee machine etc. The spare bedroom is a decent size with a double bed, a study desk and a wardrobe. The living room is large and contains a big TV and a PlayStation 3 which students are welcome to use during their stay. The apartment has Wi-Fi and a phone line.

About the local area

Near the area you can find great walks; at the end of the road is a very nice park and a bit further along is a nature reserve where one can find Edinburgh’s Royal Observatory. From here you can see a beautiful panoramic view of all of Edinburgh. Nearby there are swimming and gym facilities as well as tennis courts. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants just a short bus ride away and there are many places to buy groceries all within walking distance. There is a nearby corner shop, post office, chemist, police station and church. I live 30 minutes from the city centre and the bus links from this area are excellent. The busses are plentiful and frequent and will take you on a beautiful journey through the charming city of Edinburgh.
