I live with my partner Lisa who is also a teacher and works as the Head of Department for the Additional Learning Needs team at a local school. Lisa enjoys walking and visiting local antique and craft fairs. I have a daughter and Lisa has a son and daughter who have all left home but visit from time to time.

I am a keen sailor and regularly volunteer with Challenge Wales as crew on their yachts which enable young people to get sailing training. I also enjoy all sports. I am very interested in cooking and enjoy using locally sourced ingredients to experiment with new dishes. I enjoy doing DIY and am currently extending our patio space in the garden. Myself and my partner enjoying walking and visiting places of interest in Wales.

About the teacher’s accommodation

We live in a 19th century house which was originally a coach house and stables. There is a secluded garden which is lovely to sit in when sunny. Students have a comfortable twin bedroom with spectacular views of the Garth Mountain. Students also have use of their own private sitting room.

About the local area

Taffs Well is a small village just 20 minutes by car into the city centre. There is a train station within walking distance which takes 15 minutes into Cardiff central. Close to the house is a leisure village which has a multiplex cinema, ten pin bowling and lots of restaurants. The Taff Trail is a bike and walking trail which runs along the River Taff from Cardiff Bay to the Brecon Beacons, this is a five-minute walk away. Close by is Castell Coch, a Welsh folly, Caerphilly Castle and town and Cardiff castle. Cardiff is a vibrant city with plenty of attractions such as Cardiff Bay and the Opera House. Within an hour’s drive is Big Pit coal mine, which gives a fascinating insight into the realities of a colliers life, Barry Island, the Gower and St Fagans museum which looks at Welsh life and customs and is a great family day out.
