About
Peter D

I am an experienced teacher and I like to make my lessons enjoyable and practical. The real joy about staying with us is the full inclusion in family life! With two children under 5, we are very busy, and you are included in everything we do. However, if you want some quiet time, that is also available! My family and I have hosted overseas students for a few years now, ranging from children to mature adults and grandparents.

Family information

I live with my wife Helen, and our two children (2014 and 2016).  Obviously a lot of our time is spent visiting and enjoying child-related things! You are included in our plans at all times. We take a great delight in exploring our local history and landscape, as well as local cultural events. We go walking and visit the beach and countryside regularly. Helen and I are both interested in current affairs. Helen also likes cooking, travelling and exercising. I play tennis and golf, and I am a member of local clubs.

About the teacher’s accommodation

A large and comfortable, well- furnished double room, almost exclusive use of bathroom (only used to bathe our two children). The room can be arranged as one double bed; one double and a single bed; or as two single beds. Facilities in the room include wireless internet access. Our house is a 1930s style mid-terrace house with a pretty garden. The Old Town of Eastbourne is a very nice residential area, near (15 minute walk) to the South Downs. It has excellent bus links to the town centre and beach, and is a 15-20 minute walk to both.

About the local area

The Old Town of Eastbourne is a very nice residential area, near (15 minute walk) to the South Downs. There are a number of beautiful parks and open spaces nearby. I can book tennis courts for free. There is a swimming pool 5 minutes walk away, but of course, we also have the beach with its many water sports and activities. Eastbourne has many wonderful places to visit, including the internationally renowned Towner art gallery, the famous Victorian pier, Beachy Head and Cuckmere Haven. Beyond Eastbourne is the vibrant, cosmopolitan seaside-city of Brighton (easy to reach via bus or train), and the South Downs National Park, with many picturesque villages, renowned for their traditional pubs, locally brewed beer and cream teas. London, and all its wonderful sight-seeing opportunities, is only a 90 minute journey from Eastbourne on the train.
