About the teacher’s accommodation

I live just outside the village of Benenden in the the county of Kent in south east England. My home is a four bedroom farmhouse with a garden, situated in a tranquil, rural location. There are attractive views of the local countryside and you can go for walks in the fields and woods around the house.

About the local area

Kent is known as the ‘garden of England’ because of its many orchards and its association with hops, used in the production of beer. It also has many gardens to visit. The most famous is Sissinghurst Castle which dates back to the 1930s. Some of the most picturesque castles in England are to be found here, such as Dover, Leeds and Hever. On the coast, you can enjoy the beaches in summer along with a range of water activities whilst golf enthusiasts will find many courses. The nearest towns are Tenterden and Tunbridge Wells. Both are interesting and have places of historical interest as well as nice shops, eating places. If you like modern art, visit the Turner Contemporary Gallery in the seaside town of Margate. Canterbury is the is nearest city. It is a busy place with much to see, including the oldest cathedral in England. London is easily accessible by train so a day trip to see the sights and attractions is another option for an excursion.
