About
Margaret H

I am a qualified teacher of English as a foreign language. I find home stay teaching very rewarding and enjoyable. I try to be very creative when planning lessons and I am an expert on English grammar. I like to build a rapport with my students and create an environment conducive to learning. Before becoming a home stay teacher, I had a long career running public libraries. I have also worked for the BBC and for the British Council in Africa.

About the teacher’s accommodation

I live in a large, semi detached house in a quiet, residential road. The house is within walking distance of the town centre of Wendover and there is a garden.

About the local area

Wendover is a lovely, small town with some shops, a small supermarket, coffee shops and pubs. The antiques and chocolate shops are especially worth exploring. Wendover is located in the county of Buckinghamshire, north west of London. The town is in an area of designated natural beauty called the Chiltern Hills.

A trip to London to explore all the sights and attractions is very easy (45 minutes by train). Locally, there are two museums to visit about the famous children’s author Roald Dahl; an interesting natural history museum; and a few nature reserves. Sporting facilities available include tennis, swimming. bowling and golf. There are a number of splendid, historical houses in the area, such as Hughendon, Clivedon and Waddesdon.
