Hello, my name is Magnus and I’d like to welcome you to my home here in Scotland. I am an experienced English teacher in both business and general english, working with all levels of students both in small groups and one to one. I enjoy helping people develop and improve their language skills using a variety of methods and materials tailored to the learners needs. I have a background in design, making one-off and limited edition furniture for private and corporate clients.My interests include cinema, music and travel.

I have three years experience working as an English teacher working abroad and here in Scotland. I also have about two years experience working as a part time design tutor on a university design degree course. I have a degree in design and a Cambridge CELTA English teaching qualification.

I enjoy going to the cinema. I have a wide and varied taste in music from current chart music classical music, and jazz. I like to travel and I have visited many countries in Europe and also the United States. Art, architecture and design are other interests and I enjoy visiting many exhibitions and galleries both here and when I travel.

About the teacher’s accommodation

My home is a three bedroomed house in a short terrace. It has a living room and kitchen downstairs. There are three double bedrooms and a shared bathroom upstairs. It is equipped with a shower which also incorporates a steam cabinet. Outside there is a paved garden to the back of the house. There is a large park 5 minutes away on foot, and you can find a modern shopping centre and a designer outlet 15 minutes away on foot.

About the local area

My home is situated in Livingston, in a residential area situated 20 minutes from Edinburgh city centre. It is well located for visiting some of Scotlands most outstanding cultural and heritage sites. There are many local amenities including country parks and golf courses. There are swimming pools, gyms and sports centres. There are cinemas, theatres and many art galleries in easy reach.

A walking tour of Edinburgh

We can walk about the old town taking in some of the sites including Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, and the Scottish Parliament. It is possible to do some whisky tastings too. We can pause for lunch and enjoy some classic Scottish food.

Cruise on The Firth of Forth

Take a boat cruise to view the three spectacular bridges spanning the Firth of Forth. The cruise offers panoramas of the Edinburgh skyline and of Fife to the north.
