Hello!  My name is Lydia and I live with my husband and 4 children in Bournemouth in the South of England. I have been a teacher all my life and have taught English in the UK and abroad. We are an active family and enjoy walking and cycling. We enjoy welcoming students to our home and including them in family life. We live in a lovely part of England and are near beautiful beaches and also the New Forest.  We have a comfortable home and I enjoy cooking!

Family information

We are a big family, but very friendly and welcoming! My husband and I are in our 40s and we have 4 children: a son (2002) and 3 daughters (2004, 2008, 2010). They all enjoy music, sport and being active. We also have a dog.  He’s a black labrador called Ted and he’s 1 year old.  We like taking him for walks in the park or at the beach. Because our children are still quite young we like to go out at the weekends.  Sometimes we go to the beach for a walk.  However, we also like to go cycling, rollerskating and going to the cinema. I enjoy cooking and reading and as a family we like to watch films together at home.

About the teacher’s accommodation

We live in a detached house with 6 bedrooms.  We have  a twin room and a single room available.  The rooms are comfortable and you will share a bathroom with the children. It is a 10 minute walk to the nearest shopping centre and a 15 minute bus ride to the centre of town.

About the local area

Bournemouth is a beautiful town.  It has clean beaches and you can swim in the sea (if it’s not too cold!). The New Forest is nearby and it is possible to walk and cycle here and even go camping. Many tourists visit Bournemouth in the summer so there are always lots of activities.  A highlight in August is the annual Air Festival which takes place over 4 days with displays of many different types of aircraft.
