About the teacher’s accommodation

We live in a three bedroom detached house in the village of Benson, in the county of Oxfordshire. The house is built in a traditional style and there is a garden. The student’s room is spacious and has a TV and DVD and a large selection of English books suitable for students of all levels.

About the local area

Benson is well served with local amenities and, with around a dozen shops, the High Street is very busy. On the edge of the village on the river is Benson Lock and also a boating marina and popular riverside cafe. You will find a library and a number of pubs. The village has easy access to Oxford and it is an ideal location from which to explore the city. Oxford is a busy place with shops, museums, a theatre, cinemas, the university colleges and art galleries. There is a a vibrant music scene, especially of classical music.

In summer, you can hire a punt and go out on the river. It is a short drive to the picturesque area known as the Cotswolds. There are pretty towns and villages to explore amidst the rolling countryside. Stratford upon Avon is another possible destination for an excursion. It is the birthplace of William Shakespeare, and there are many places of historical interest to visit. If you want to shop, it is a short journey from Oxford to Bicester Village, with its designer outlets, where you can search for bargains.
