About
Karen B

Hi, my name is Karen and I am a 52-year-old mother of five! I have over 20 years of teaching experience and am excited now to bring my knowledge and expertise out of the classroom and into the comfort of my lovely home!
We live in the beautiful bustling city of Brighton which has the best of ALL worlds – a vibrant city life BY THE SEA and within a few minutes drive of some of the most stunning countryside in England.
Our gorgeous six bedroom home is in a quiet location near a fabulous park and only a 15-minute drive away from the heart of the city.
With 3 of the 5 children still living at home with also my husband and brother, it’s a fun (often noisy) household full of love and laughter. You will feel part of our family and we are excited about sharing our different customs and culture.

 Family information

My youngest daughter is 15 years old and is a student. So is my 17-year old son. My 19-year old daughter is training to be an estate agent and all three still currently live at home. My husband has his own ceramic tiling business and my younger brother is a taxi driver. My two eldest daughters have their own homes and work in events management and the beauty business. They both visit regularly and alongside the other children’s friends we are often a very lively household, especially at the weekends. Fortunately because we have a large house there is plenty of room to find a quiet private space if need be!
My husband and I regularly practise yoga and the whole family are keen football fans, supporting our local team, Brighton and Hove Albion. My son plays football for a local amateur team and my daughters both enjoy photography and cookery. We all love to socialise and I particularly love the theatre and live music concerts.

About the teacher’s accommodation

We have a six-bedroom house with a large garden and a balcony with sea views. Your accommodation is a single room with a wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is a separate study with two desks for your own personal use. Opposite your bedroom is a small bathroom with a sink and toilet and the main bathroom downstairs has a bath and shower with a toilet and sink.
There are two living rooms both with TVs which you are welcome to use and the kitchen and dining areas are where we generally congregate and eat together.
We have a beautiful park a few minutes walk away and a parade of shops including a post office, pizza restaurant, coffee bar and small gym.

About the local area

Brighton has fantastic shopping and is particularly renowned for the historical Lanes area with its quaint old shops and boutiques. The Royal Pavilion and the Brighton Pier are two of the UK’s most visited tourist attractions alongside the Brighton Eye and Brighton Marina. There is an abundance of bars, restaurants and cafés to suit all tastes and budgets alongside theatres, museums, cinemas and concert halls. Nightlife is varied and diverse and caters for all tastes.

Away from the bright lights of the city and the appeal of the serenity of the sea, just a few minutes drive into the countryside are some beautiful, scenic walks and stunning views of the Sussex South Downs. Brighton offers something for everyone!
