About
Jacy M

I’ve been teaching for almost 20 years now and have a wide range of experience at all levels. This means I find it easy to adapt lessons to suit a student’s particular need or interest. I am familiar with exam classes such as IELTS, but am also confident teaching through a variety of different ways such as songs, stories, business English etc. Brighton is a great town to visit, we love the fact it is next to the sea and is always lively with lots of tourists and students visiting the area. There is something for everyone in Brighton. Brighton is also great because it is so close to other interesting towns such as London, and historical towns such as Lewes and Chichester. Our house is in the centre of Brighton and close to the train station and so it is easy to find your way around quickly and easily.

Family information

I live with my husband and our dog. My husband is, like me, in his forties and works in the local library. We also have a very friendly but quiet dog. My brother and his family live near by. My brother is also an ESL teacher and his wife is Japanese. They have 2 lovely children who are 11 and 9 years old. We often get together for a barbecue and a catch up. My husband and I both love walking and visiting local historical sights such as castles and country houses. I love reading and watching films. We have a lovely independent cinema near us and we enjoy seeing the latest films. I love cooking and would love to invite someone to help me in the kitchen to learn some new recipes. My husband plays in a band and has a very wide music collection, he also loves to share his interest in music and vinyl. He often plays at local pubs and festivals.

About the teacher’s accommodation

We live in a Victorian 2 bedroom home. We have just had a new bathroom and kitchen so it is very modern and up-to-date. The house is quiet and spacious with a small sunny garden in the back. The area is close to the city centre and lovely parks. It is a vibrant, friendly area with lots of pubs and shops to choose from, including a local indoor market.

About the local area

Brighton has almost all local facilities such as hopping, restaurants and sports facilities for swimming and playing sports. I love running and there are some beautiful country parks to walk or run around. We are next to the South Downs so it is a great area for walking and exploring. There is horse riding in the area and we also have community bikes outside our house that you can rent to cycle round. It is very cycle friendly so has a lot of bike lanes to use. Brighton has theatres, restaurants, museums and art galleries.
