 Family information

We welcome people of any age who would like to improve their English while staying with a family in Wrexham in the United Kingdom. If you study with us, you will live in the home of your teacher in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Lessons will be planned to suit you and you will speak English every day.

My husband Andrew has a CELTA English teaching certificate.

I like looking after our garden, especially in the summer. I like to visit the beautiful gardens at Erddig Hall and Chirk Castle which are near to us. We have bicycles that our visitors can use if they want to.
Andrew and I both enjoy cooking and if you come to stay you can experience many different foods, if you want to – perhaps a traditional roast chicken dinner, lasagne, curry, fish and chips and so on.

About the teacher’s accommodation

We live in a large, semi-detached house about 1.5 kilometers from the centre of Wrexham. The house is warm and comfortable and has a nice garden where we often sit and eat in the summer.
We have three guest bedrooms – a single room, a double room and a room with three single beds. Our guests use a shared bathroom.
The house has a large kitchen/dinning room where we spend a lot of time with our visitors. It also has a large study which the visitors can use, with a tv, dvd player and a selection of musical instruments.
There is a park across the road from the house. There is a very pleasant pub about 10 minutes walk away.

About the local area

Our house is about 15 minutes walk from the centre of Wrexham. The town has many shops including Marks and Spencer, Next, Debenhams, Clarks Shoes and Primark, which is very popular with the younger visitors. The town has a population of about 70,000 and it has a university, a football stadium, a swimming pool, a tennis centre and a beautiful old church.
On Mondays there is a small street market. Wrexham is about one hours drive from Manchester and Liverpool airports.
Examples of excursions we can make are half day visits to Erddig Hall, one of the finest historic houses in Britain; the magnificent medieval fortress Chirk Castle; the historic Roman city of Chester; the ”outlet village” shopping centre Cheshire Oaks and the picturesque riverside town of Llangollen.
Full day excursions could include a tour of North Wales to see the mountains, lakes and castles; a visit to Blackpool Pleasure Beach theme park with its roller coasters; or to Liverpool or Manchester for shopping, museums and to see the football stadiums.
