A warm and friendly welcome awaits you here at Mill Farm English Language Homestay, where we offer comfortable, quality accommodation in our country house in the beauty of South Gloucestershire, on the edge of the Cotswolds.

Whether here for a General English/Culture stay or for intensive Business English tuition, Mill Farm will provide you with the ideal learning environment. The setting lends itself to total immersion language learning in a relaxed, friendly and peaceful environment, however, easy proximity to towns and cities means that guests will not miss out on the hustle and bustle of urban life if they so wish.

We enjoy involving guests in our normal daily lives and providing ample social interaction with friends and acquaintances. Our focus is on practical use of the language, which is actively encouraged, as well as backing up lessons with standard grammar instruction. Be assured that your stay will be tailored to your personal requirements.

 Family information

I take pride in being innovative and inspiring in my approach to English language teaching, and, with my husband, John, enjoy welcoming guests into our home and helping them to join in our daily lives, including meeting our friends and neighbours. We have spent many years working in business which has instilled in us the importance of keeping those around us happy and motivated. We transfer these skills to the experience that we offer at Mill Farm and do so in a relaxed and cheerful manner.

John is a business consultant with 30 years experience as Managing Director; John runs a small scale ‘horse rehabilitation’ business at Mill Farm and also works on our small holding.

We have two grown up daughters in their 20s who do not live at home but visit often. Our elder daughter is a horse vet and our younger daughter works for a computer company.

My interests include walking, Nordic walking, cooking/food, travelling, reading, local history, watching films, theatre. I speak competent Italian.

John’s interests include country sports, travelling, walking, current affairs, food and baking, local history, watching films and gardening.
We enjoy entertaining and love cooking nutritious, tasty meals. We source local foods as much as we can and grow some of our own fruit and vegetables as well.
We love our students to join in with our interest if they would like.

About the teacher’s accommodation

Double room with ensuite bathroom
Single room with a bathroom next to it, (shared if more than one guest is staying, but otherwise private)
Twin room with own sink in room and shared bathroom

Bathrooms include bath and shower.

We have a cosy kitchen/living room with log fire, a dining room, drawing room with a piano and larger living room with a magnificent dining table, sofas and bookcases.
Outside we have gardens, fields, woods, stables and a hay barn.

About the local area

A 10 minute walk down a country lane from our home leads to an ancient woodland, with its peaceful walking trails, abundant with plants and bursting with wildlife. A hidden corner waiting to be explored.

The grounds of Mill Farm offer a tranquil retreat. Spend time strolling around the gardens and the horse and sheep paddocks or take a coffee and a language lesson in the quaint summerhouse.
Not to be missed either are the exciting excursions that can be organised to fascinating and historical cities, such as Bath and Bristol, and our regular visits to smaller market towns and villages such as Chipping Sodbury and Castle Combe.

Nordic Walking
Clay Pigeon shooting
and more…
