About
Gabi C

Hello,

My name is Gabi and I am an English teacher. I was born in the UK and have been teaching English to all ages for nearly thirty years now. I can help you with your English any way you need: I can help you improve your grammar, pass any exam or help you prepare for entry into university or a job interview in the UK.

I live in the British countryside. There are buses that go to nearby places, such as the pretty market towns of Woodbridge or Framlingham, or the city of Ipswich. Cambridge and London are not too far away to go for a day trip. It is possible to go on beautiful walks or cycle rides in the countryside. There is a spa with a sauna and swimming pool and golf course only five minutes drive away.

In the village where I live there is everything you need and two tea and coffee parlours where you can sit and have a typical English tea, and a very good fish and chip shop!

Our house is a typical English cottage from the 1600s with a very pretty garden. A very English place to learn English!

 Family information

I have three daughters living at home with me. My youngest daughter (2001) loves music and films and also plays the piano well. The two older girls (1999 and 1996) both love art. My husband (40ish) travels a lot and is often not at home. We all love animals and have two very sweet, small dogs.

I enjoy drawing and painting, so you can try with me too. We are also all learning to play golf, and there are lots of golf courses in our area. Another thing we enjoy is cycling or walking around the small country lanes. You can borrow a bike and go for a ride if you like, or we could go for a bike ride together if the weather is nice. It is also nice to cycle to a country pub for lunch sometimes.

About the teacher’s accommodation

My home is a very old cottage built in the 1600s. It has the original old beams and low doorways, so you may have to be careful if you are tall! It is not very big, but big enough. It’s very cosy and comfortable. We have one bathroom with both a shower and bath, but there is also another separate toilet. The twin bedroom is quite spacious and is on the top floor.
The single room is small and cosy with a view of the garden on the ground floor. The living room area has an open fireplace. Wickham Market is a small market town but it has everything you need: a post office, a chemists, two restaurants, some shops, two tea and coffee parlours, a supermarket, an old church and a park.

About the local area

The nearest train station to me is Wickham Market, which is also called Campsea Ashe as it is actually in Campsea Ashe and not Wickham Market. It is about five minutes drive from my home. From here you can catch trains to Ipswich (20 minutes) and from Ipswich you can catch trains to London or Cambridge. The nearest airport is Stansted. You can take the train from Stansted to Cambridge or London and then to Ipswich. However, there is also a good taxi service which is easier and not too expensive. The taxi could pick you up from any airport on request. By taxi or car it is about one hour and twenty minutes to Stansted airport.
