Central England

Fiona B

I live with my family on working English farm. On the farm we have sheep, pigs, hens, ducks, horses, dogs and cats and a beautiful traditional cider orchard. We enjoy welcoming students to stay with us and experiencing life on a typical working English farm and helping students gain confidence speaking English in a relaxed and informal setting.

 Family information

The Bunting family consist of Tim and Fiona (the parents), Karina (1991) who spends most of her time in Birmingham working as a trainee cardiac scientist, Rory (1994) who splits his time between agricultural college, working on our farm and a local dairy farm and Alice (1999) who is still at school. We also have three dogs; Millie the Labrador, Annie the Collie (working sheep dog) and Poppy the “Sofa” dog. We also have two kittens and two horses called Foxy and Jazz. Grove Farm is a busy and fun place to visit with many activities available such as horse-riding, cycling, camping, tennis, water-sliding and football which we all enjoy. I also love animals and attending local horse and agricultural shows.

About the teacher’s accommodation

Grove Farm is a small livestock farm of approximately 17 hectares on the outskirts of the village Kimbolton, near the town of Leominster. Students have a private bedroom and bathroom and we expect them to live as part of the family.

About the local area

There is plenty to do in the local area depending on your interests. For sporty students canoeing is available on the River Wye, there is sailing on Llangorse lake, tennis, an assault course as well as a small mountain to climb! There are also lovely cathedrals in Worcester and Hereford as well as Berrington Hall, a typical English country house.
