About
Emily Z

Hi! My name is Emily. I live in Wells, the smallest city in England. It is in the countryside near Bath, Bristol, Glastonbury, and an hour from Stonehenge. My location offers the best combination of seeing beautiful sites in England while developing language skills. I am CELTA teacher and also have a Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I love to meet new people from all over the world and learn about their cultures. I have travelled widely and speak several languages. I enjoy spending time with students, creating a comfortable relationship. I regularly spend my evenings watching films or playing board games or taking walks in the surrounding countryside.

Academic information

At university I studied different languages and realised my passion was for teaching English, my own language, while learning from others so I studied a Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I am also a CELTA teacher. I have taught students of different levels and backgrounds, and change my lessons to suit the students.

 Family information

I live with my partner, Harry. We are both in our 20’s and we have two cats. My brother, a paramedic, also lives in Wells and often visits the house. My parents both live in Australia and visit once a year. I have many friends who live in the area who I enjoy seeing socially.

I love to travel and learning new languages. I have friends all over the world and try and visit as many of them as I can. When in England, I enjoy visiting the local towns and markets, and talking walks around the local hills. I also enjoy cooking, as well as music, films and board games. As a student you would be able to join in any of these activities, and I am also eager to try new things.

About the teacher’s accommodation

We live in a detached house on a small quiet lane. The house is surrounded by fields with wonderful views and opportunities to explore. There is a bus at the end of the lane which goes to Bath or Wells. Unrestricted WiFi and washing and drying facilities are available. The bedroom is a large single room, with access to shared bathrooms, featuring a large shower, bath, and several toilets.

About the local area

There is so much to see and do around Wells for all different budgets. Wells itself is the smallest city in England, has two weekly markets including a farmer’s market, and has a cathedral built in the 1100s. We are also a close drive to the old cities of Bath and Bristol. Bath offers the Roman Baths and the setting to many Jane Austen novels. Bristol is an old harbour town with a great modern vibe. I am also near Glastonbury, the home of Glastonbury Festival and the famous Tor, as well as Cheddar Caves and Gorge – the home of the cheese! We are also 2 hours by train to London.
