Family information

I live with my wife, Mariella. She runs a catering business specialising in Italian food and she also works at a museum in Oxford. Needless to say, Mariella is an excellent cook and is happy to show students how to make pasta! We have a young daughter (date of birth: 2006). She attends the local village school and is a bilingual English and Italian speaker. Other members of my family live locally so they often visit the house.

My big interest is rock music, from pre Elvis Presley through to modern day. I play the guitar and I am happy to help students with learning to play. My other interest is opera and and I especially enjoy listening to Wagner.

About the teacher’s accommodation

I live in a very pretty and spacious house with a garden in the village of Tackley. It is old house with much character. Tackley is a small, attractive village (population: about 1,000) outside the city of Oxford. Oxford is 15 minutes by car. The village has a railway station and trains to Oxford take just five minutes. There is a village shop and an ancient church. The village is located in beautiful countryside and there are many walks in the woods, fields and along the canal.

About the local area

The small, old town of Woodstock is about five minutes by car. It has shops, a museum, restaurants and pubs. It is also the location of Blenheim Palace, which is a world heritage site. It was built in the 18th century and has a magnificent interior, beautiful gardens and a huge park. It was the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, British prime minister during the Second World War.

The city of Oxford is a very busy and lively place with many shops and restaurants and all modern amenities. It is possible to visit the ancient university colleges with their fine architecture. There are also museums, theatres and cinemas. Bicester village, famous for all its designer shopping stores, is also not far from us. London and all its attractions is an ideal day excursion.
