Teacher introduction

I am a young and experienced teacher trained by Cambridge University to deliver English lessons to the highest standard. I live with my husband and our super friendly cat in a stunning 4 bedroom home with great facilities. We are in a small Scottish village called Carfin which is conveniently located in the middle of the Scottish Central Belt between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Teacher home details
We live in a detached 4/5-bedroom house which is modern and elegantly decorated. The student will have his/her own private bedroom with a choice of shared or private bathroom facilities. The en-suite student room is located on the 1st floor and benefits of a private bathroom with walk-in shower. The standard student room is located on the ground floor and benefits of shared bathroom facilities with a Jacuzzi bath! All student rooms are equipped with own laundry baskets, hairdryers and tea/coffee-making facilities. Other common areas of the house include a spacious living/dining area, downstairs WC, large kitchen with breakfast bar, and garden where we like to barbecue in the summer!
Teacher qualifications
I hold an Honours Degree in Modern Languages, a Master’s Degree in Translation and a CELTA (Cambridge Accredited Qualification for teaching English). I have been teaching privately for over 9 years and I also have experience working in English Language schools for the British Council. I have experience with teaching English at all levels.
Teacher about the local area
Carfin is a small village in the suburbs of Motherwell and conveniently located to access the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. The nearest town centre is Motherwell where there is a large variety of shops, cinemas, restaurants and cafes. There is also a well-equipped leisure centre where you can access a swimming pool with slides and other fun features at a small cost! There are many things to do around the area such as shopping, bowling, going for walks in the countryside or even visit Carfin Grotto, a famous pilgrimage location and historical shrine. There is a railway station 10 minutes from the house as well as local buses to get around. We also have our own car.
Teacher family
My husband and I are both 30 years old and we have an 8 year old cat called Fifi. She is very funny, kind, gentle and she loves people. My husband, Kostas, is originally from Greece and I have both English and Italian origins (we cook very very good food!). In our home we can speak English, Italian, Greek, French and Spanish however our main and common language is English.
Teacher how to get here by public
Description of how to get here by public transport, including nearest rail and bus stations
We are very flexible with transport as there are lots of options such as: our car, train to Holytown railway station (to and from Glagow & Edinburgh) or local buses. There are several bus stops around the house and Holytown train station is only a 10 minute walk from the house. All tickets can be purchased on board and children under the age of 16 can get a discounted ticket.
Teacher hobbies and interests
We both enjoy outdoor activities and walking in the countryside, as well as visiting historical places (Scotland is perfect for that). We have recently discovered our passion for traditional Scottish Dances (Ceilidh) which are so much fun and suitable for all ages so if you’re willing to give them a go let us know! We love cooking and I also have a lot of creative hobbies such as candle-making and general arts and crafts. All things that we can be doing together of course
