Coral L

I am a friendly, professional person who likes to travel and spend time with people from different cultures.  I am an experienced English teacher and I enjoy helping students develop their language skills and giving them an opportunity to find out about British culture as they study.  I live in the very popular seaside city of Brighton & Hove which has always attracted visitors from the UK and the rest of the world as there is much to do locally.   I live just an hour’s train journey from London so it is easy to visit the UK’s capital city and explore the sights there too.  I have taught English in my home, in schools and outside the UK in Spain and in India.   My career was London based working as a senior manager in housing strategy and policy.  I also have a background in training and management consultancy.  In recent years I have continued to specialise in English teaching but also spent a period of time learning to be a professional cook and enjoy to share my cooking skills too.

Family information

I have two adult sons and both of them work in education.  My son Joe works in a specialist school in London and his girlfriend works for a large London based audit company.  My other son Tim is a science teacher and is married to an English teacher and they have two energetic daughters aged four and one year old.  My sons enjoy all sports and I see them both regularly as they both live in the South East. I come from quite a small family and have a sister who lives in Wales and a brother who has lived in Australia since 1980. I love to read and I go to see films and go to the theatre as much as I can.  I am very interested in food, nutrition and cooking and in 2017 I spent three months living in rural Ireland learning to be a professional cook.  I enjoy sharing my interest in food and helping people learn to cook.  I very much enjoy arts and music festivals and enjoy the Brighton Festival in May each year and the Edinburgh Festival in August.

About the teacher’s accommodation

My home is a large apartment located on the seafront in Hove.  I live on the ground floor and have two bedrooms, a large living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a second WC.  My home is modern and is warm and comfortable.  There is an excellent bus service into Brighton & Hove very close to my home and I live a very short walk from a gym and swimming pool.  A few minutes’ walk from my home there is a café on the beach which is always popular with visitors.

About the local area

I live in Brighton & Hove which is a city on the South coast of England.  The towns of Brighton and Hove joined together to become a city in 2000.  There is a lot to do in Brighton as it has always been a major British tourist location and there are local attractions like the Brighton Pavilion and the new British Airways i360 viewing pod which gives a high level view of the city.  North of Brighton & Hove is the South Downs National Park with lovely countryside and walks and we have plenty of beaches and cafes and restaurants.  It takes just one hour by train to get to London so a visit to the sights of London is easy to make.  Other areas of interest nearby are the towns of Lewes, Eastbourne, Hastings, Arundel and Worthing.
