South England

Charlotte D

I love being a home tutor and welcoming new people into my home. The great thing about teaching one to one is that I can provide a really personal course for each student. Before I became a home stay teacher, I was a full time primary school teacher for 11 years.

Family information

I live with my partner, James. He runs his own business, installing solar farms. He is a keen sailor and likes cycling. He has a couple of canoes and enjoys scuba diving. James’ daughter (date of birth: 2000) stays at the house on a regular basis. We have a dog (a small Dachshund), Cumberland.
I love travelling and learning about new cultures. I enjoy scuba diving. I am learning pottery on the pottery wheel I have installed at home. I am a very keen cook and a cake is usually in the oven. I like to walk my dog in the local countryside.

About the teacher’s accommodation

I live in Worthing, a town on the south east coast of England. My home is a five bedroom, terraced house with a garden. There are some shops and a park nearby and it is a five minute walk into the centre of Worthing. The train station is a two minute walk.

About the local area

Worthing is a classic seaside town with a vibrant town centre. You can walk or cycle along the promenade and coast and there are beaches to enjoy in summer. Amenities include a leisure centre; a cinema; a bowling alley; and a theatre as well as many shops and eating places. The South Downs National Park, which is a designated area of natural beauty is very accessible. It includes some of the most varied English landscapes, from open chalk grassland, ancient forests to river valleys.

The city of Brighton is 20 minutes away by train. Places of interest to visit include the Pavilion, art galleries and museums; the aquarium; and the Big Wheel and pier. It is a great place to shop as there are quirky shops in the area known as The Lanes, as well as regular shops. There are some pretty towns along the coast which are nice to explore They have places of historical interest to explore and nice places where you can stop for something to eat and drink. If you would like to visit London, it is an easy journey by train.
