Teacher introduction

Hello!

Andrew and I would love to have you stay with us in beautiful Oxford where there is so much to do and see. We live in a 3 bedroom cottage with a lovely English garden. Our small dog is called Saffron & she is very friendly.

I’m CELTA qualified to teach English which I really enjoy. I like helping and motivating my students. It is fulfilling to contribute to learners’ progress. In addition to English, I can speak French & Spanish as I studied languages. I was actually educated in these 3 countries but spent most of life in the United Kingdom, so I know the challenges of learning a foreign language. I have taught to children as young as 4 years old, teenagers, adults and professionals in schools and in my home

My hobbies are cooking, baking, pilates, swimming and walking my dog, Saffron, in beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. I also volunteer to teach English to adults in Oxford for 2 charities. At the weekend, Andrew and I enjoy gardening, entertaining friends or family and we regularly go out to watch a film, a play, a concert or a show. You are welcome to accompany us.

About the teacher’s accommodation

Our home is situated in a quiet area. It comprises of 3 double bedrooms. We have a front and back garden. There is a corridor as you come in with a downstairs toilet. To the right it leads in to a sitting room and to the left a separate TV area that is called a snug. The kitchen is open plan with down a few steps, a dining room and sitting area which has large windows. We have double doors that open up onto the garden pagoda from which you can see our English garden borders. The stairs take you up to the 3 bedrooms each equipped with a large bed and a wardrobe with a garden view. On the landing, there is a large mirror and the bathroom with walk in shower, basin and toilet.

About the local area

Oxford is a very dynamic city. It is a small cultural place where you can either walk or ride a bike to see all the well-known sights such as Oxford University Colleges, Sheldonian Theatre, Radcliffe Camera or Bodleian Library. There are lots of students and tourists so it is a busy place. We live very close to Thrupp with its lovely canal with narrow boats and Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill, home to the Marlborough Family. You can walk to Kidlington shops which are less than 2 minutes away or catch the bus, a few steps from our front door to the centre of Oxford. There are beautiful parks, golf courses as well as tennis courts and we are about 30 minutes from the Cotswolds. London is only 1 hour away by train.
