About
Anita R

Hello, my husband and I live in Poole on the south coast of Dorset next to lovely walks to town. We enjoy hiking and barbecues on the beach as we are from South Africa where we lived an outdoor life. We enjoy exploring the coastline, doing pub walks and learning about the history and nature of the area. I have done lots of different things in my life and look forward to teaching from my home. I hope to make it fun and interesting with some good home cooking as well!

Family information

I live with my retired husband.  Although we love animals, we have no pets at present.  My two girls are living with their husbands – one in Bristol with my little granddaughter and the other in Epsom near London. My husband loves fishing and sport but we do a lot of hiking and walks along the seafront and in the New Forest.  We also play tennis and swim when it is warm enough.  We love having the family down and barbecuing in our backyard.  I enjoy cooking food from different countries. We used to smoke mackerel and I used to paint on silk scarves and would be happy to take a student fishing or do something creative and teach silk painting.

About the teacher’s accommodation

Our home has 3 bedrooms with one family bathroom and a front and back garden with two large trees in the front.  We have an outside table and chairs for bbq’s and can walk to the end of the road onto Canford Heath which is a wild open space with cows grazing and a view over Poole harbour in the distance.  We are within walking distance of Tower Park amusement centre and Bourne Valley Greenway which will lead you into town through the gardens.

About the local area

We are near a spectacular coastline and would enjoy showing our student around Old Harry’s rocks with lunch at the pub nearby. You can catch the ferry across to Studland to the beach there or walk to Tower Park just down the road, a huge entertainment centre. Poole park has good walks and views and the old town has some lovely old pubs on the quay near shops and museums. The New Forest is about half an hour away with nice walks, wild ponies and deer wandering around.
