Academic information

I hold a BA Hons in English and an ESL teaching qualification. I have taught English as a foreign language for six years, both in schools and one to one and I teach all levels from Elementary up to the Certificate in Advanced English. I adapt classes to the student’s needs, and I think it’s important that students enjoy the classes.

Family information

I live with my husband who works with children with behaviour and emotional difficulties. We have two adult children, my 20 year old daughter is working in Bristol and my son, 23, is in Laos. We have a wide range of interests – we like watching sport, including football and rugby, and we visit a local gym with an outdoor pool (Day membership available for guests). We love reading and the cinema, and walking in the countryside stopping at a traditional pub or a tea garden. We visit museums and art galleries. We also like just sitting in cafes watching the world go by. We like meeting people from different countries and cultures. I enjoy cooking British dishes and those from around the world.

About the teacher’s accommodation

We live in a typical terraced house in a quiet suburb of tree lined streets. You will have your own room but share a bathroom. Our house is your home while you are with us. We live near to parks and cafes. We have a deck at the back with wonderful views where we enjoy beautiful sunsets. The sea front is a half hour walk or short bus ride away.

About the local area

Brighton is a wonderful place to visit, as it has something for everyone – sea, beautiful countryside independent cafés and shops, architecture and culture. And it’s only a 50 minute train ride from London. It is next to the South Downs, a wonderful national park. Brighton is known for its relaxed, tolerant lifestyle and its originality – we have the only Green MP in the whole country! There are independent shops and cafes, the traditional alleyways of the old Laines, cinemas, parks and wonderful architecture.
