Teacher introduction
My name is Marion and I live in Hornchurch, a town just outside of London with my husband, Steve and 17 year old daughter. We live in a 4 bedroom house next to a park and our town has many facilities such as a cinema, swimming pool, ice skating rink, bowling, a theatre and a shopping centre. London is just a 20 minute train ride away and we are also near to the beautiful Essex countryside and other places of interest such as Cambridge. I teach in a local primary school and I specialise in teaching French to primary school children. My hobbies include walking, Pilates, art, sewing, reading, baking and visiting places of interest with my family.
Teacher home details
We live in a tree-lined road very near to a park entrance. Our house has a front lounge and a dining room/lounge overlooking the back garden. We have 4 bedrooms, 1 music room and 2 bathrooms. The student bedroom is downstairs and has a window overlooking the driveway. It has an en-suite bathroom which includes a toilet, sink and shower unit. Other family members may need to use the shower at agreed times.
Teacher qualifications text
Before I became a teacher, I used to work as a secretary. I studied for my degree in English Literature then took my Professional General Certificate in Education (PGCE) at Goldsmiths University in London. During my teacher training at Goldsmiths, I taught at a school in France for one month. I have now been teaching for nearly 10 years.

Teacher about the local area

The landmarks and attractions of London are just a short train journey away from Hornchurch. Our borough of Havering includes many shops, restaurants and parks. It has cinemas, bowling, sports centres, swimming pools, horse riding, an ice rink, escape rooms and a theatre. There is also an outdoor pursuits centre where there are high rope activities, sailing, canoeing etc. For day trips, it is also possible to visit Cambridge and go punting on the river or to visit historic houses such as Hampton Court Palace or Leeds Castle.
Teacher family
I live at home with my husband Steve, who is in his 60’s, and our youngest daughter. Steve is very interested in music of all kinds and plays and teaches the guitar. He is also a big football and sports fan. Our daughter loves art and is currently studying for her A levels in Art, English and Psychology. We also have a married daughter who lives nearby and a son who lives away from home.
