London Festive Fun 2016

London, the magnificent capital city of the United Kingdom holds many Christmas festivities and events over the winter holiday season. Home tuition students currently learning English with us in the UK…these are a few must see’s this Christmas 2016!

  1. Winter Wonderland! Immerse yourself in a fun and exciting Christmasy environment this winter. This wonderful event held in Hyde Park is perfect if you are up for a good time with a group of friends or family. Full of theme park attractions, hot beverages, German food, stalls, a Magical Ice Kingdom, a Zippos Circus and even a giant wheel, home tuition students can really get into the Christmas spirit with this festive fun!
  2. Southbank Centre Christmas Market. Made up of beautiful wooden chalets, home tuition students can discover handmade crafts, festive foods, drinks, treats and gifts!
  3. Ice Skating at Somerset House. Somerset House dating back to the 18th century provides a stunning architectural location, not only for ice skating but also as part of our summer school location this summer 2016 with our Bucksmore summer programmes. The 900 square-metre ice rink based in the courtyard is the perfect place this winter to try out those ice skating moves!
  4. The Height of Winter at The Shard. The Shard, a new London building opened in 2013 is one of the tallest buildings in Western Europe.  This winter, home tuition students have the opportunity to experience the 72nd floor of this impressive building converted into a snow globe full of ice crystals and snow domes. Christmas candy floss will be on sale as well as mulled champagne for our older home tuition students.
  5. New Year’s Eve. London is home of some of the best nightlife events for New Year’s Eve, students learning English on our Christmas and New Year immersion courses can take advantage this winter of the spectacular huge firework display taking place over the Thames. These magnificent fireworks that can be seen over the whole of London is an experience that can not be missed.
  6. Post winter holiday blues? On the 14th January, The Lumiere Event held across Kings Cross and the West End will be lighting up the streets of London. Students learning English in London will have the opportunity to see the work of these amazing artists with neon projections and performances, organised by the Artichoke company.
