Sarah has taught English for over 15 years in the UK, Ireland, Spain and the USA. She will design a course around what you need to study.
She is very highly qualified and has experience of teaching most areas such as Cambridge Examination Preparation (including Proficiency,CAE and IELTS), Business English and English for Academic Purposes. Sarah has been a Cambridge ESOL oral examiner and has also trained teachers how to teach English. Sarah also teaches Spanish and runs swimming classes for children and adults. Living abroad and working overseas she understands how to make her clients feel very welcome in another country and has hosted many students over the years.
Sarah combines her knowledge of English and teaching experience with a wide range of interests. These include music, creative writing, hiking, cooking, cycling and health and fitness.
From Sarah’s house it is possible to visit the medieval, walled town of Conwy and its 13th Century Castle built by Edward 1st. Nearby is one of Britain’s national parks, Snowdonia which has the highest mountain in England and Wales, Snowdon. If it is too much to walk up the mountain, the highest peak can also be reached by steam train. Snowdonia national park is an ideal area for outdoor pursuits such as hiking.
By train you can visit the well-known Roman city of Chester. Other English cities which can be visited include Manchester and Liverpool where football fans can visit the famous football grounds (Old Trafford and Anfield) or even see a match in season. Liverpool is the European City of Culture 2008 and is full of its own particular charm and of course is famous for the Beatles. The cultural city of Dublin, Ireland is only 2.5 hours away by train and fast ferry.
In addition to your lessons, there will be a lot of conversation practice during meal times and in the evening. One-to-one homestay English lessons allow you to improve your English as quickly as possible.
Sarah lives with her teenage daughter and is happy to host individuals, couples or adult and child/ren.
Sarah lives in a warm 3-bedroomed semi-detached house close to the sea and the hills. There are sea views from the bedroom window and a front and back garden. There is a broadband wireless connection and the use of a swimming pool within one kilometre from the house. The bus stop is directly outside the house.
Deganwy is a small town in North Wales with a beach, sailing marina and hills to climb. There is a cycle path which takes you to the Victorian, seaside resort of Llandudno and to Conwy with its magnificent Castle and the smallest house in Great Britain.
By train, you can travel to Chester, Liverpool and Manchester.
