Damelza is an unusual name and comes from ‘Demelza’, a Cornish place name used in modern times as a first name. She and her husband live in Huddersfield, which is between Manchester and Leeds. She is in her thirties and, after studying and then teaching in London for eight years, has returned to her home town.
