Hilary A

Hilary is a professional English language teacher with over 30 years experience. During her career Hilary has taught in several private language schools in Oxford, but now prefers to tutor students in the comfort of her own home.

Hilary has two sons, one is a language teacher and the other son runs his own English school in Hungary. Hilary is a regular visitor to Hungary and enjoys helping out with the school. Hilary has a wide range of interests including travel, opera, film, art and music. Hilary specialises in teaching general English, English for teachers, Business English and exam preparation courses.

Hilary lives ina comfortable 3 bedroom house about 5 km north of the city of Oxford. There is a direct bus link to the city. Hilary does not have any pets

 Hilary prepares a personalised English language study course for her students, set at the correct level – elementary, intermediate or advanced – and clearly focused on the key areas students want to improve. For example, students may want intensive practice of their speaking and listening skills, or they may wish to improve their grammar, pronunciation, writing or some other area. One to one home tuition sessions with an experienced tutor like Hilary produce excellent results in improving students’ English language skills in those areas that need attention.

The Homelingua experience also offers much more than an intensive one-to-one language course. It embodies the belief that total immersion in the language is the ideal way for a student to develop their skills. Living in Hilary’s home and sharing daily activities such as meals, shopping, trips to the village, meeting friends and so on, students are exposed to the everyday English which occurs naturally in a range of typical situations. The result is often a dramatic improvement in students’ confidence and their ability to communicate by the end of the course.
