Qualified, experienced and dedicated to home tuition

Our tutors are the key to the success of our homestays and we value our them as our most important resource. Over the past fifteen years we have built up a superb network of tutors in locations all over the UK.

All Homelingua tutors meet the following criteria.

• They are professionally qualified to teach English.
• They are friendly and welcoming hosts.
• They are knowledgeable about British culture and interested in other cultures.
• They live in a comfortable house in a nice location.

We work closely with our tutors before, during and after each homestay. In this way we develop a detailed knowledge of their individual talents and expertise. We have a careful selection process which includes an in-depth interview, meeting each tutor in person and visiting their home. For security purposes all qualifications and references are checked and a police check is conducted on all applicants.

Tutors’ professional backgrounds

• Many have been English teachers all their lives, in the UK and overseas, both in the classroom and one to one.
• Others have qualified in home tuition after successful lives and careers in different fields, from which they bring valuable skills.
• Most of our tutors are aged 50+. They are mature, knowledgeable and cultured individuals who make ideal hosts for visiting students.

Selecting your tutor

• We select the tutor who we think will be best for you, based on the information and requirements expressed in your application.
• We take any preferences into account but draw primarily on our personal knowledge of our tutors and our expertise in placing students.

Our goal for every homestay is to find the best match of student and tutor
