The town is also home to the National Trust's Knole Park with its stunning acres of deer park (open to all) and to The Vine cricket ground - the oldest in England. There is a wide variety of historic properties within a short distance from the centre and many beautiful gardens to visit. The town is surrounded by gorgeous countryside and picturesque villages - each with strong community spirit. There are many sporting facilities and the district is home to some prestigious golf clubs and equestrian centres.
